Freelance Purchasing Assistant

For our client in Aalter, we are urgently looking for a freelance Procurement Assistant.

| The customer:

The client is a Belgian family company specialized in the design, production and supply of high-quality textile products, especially in the field of protective clothing and equipment, often used in sectors such as defense, firefighting, police, etc. The facility in Aalter is therefore the headquarters but they also have branches abroad. Their team in Aalter consists of +/- 35 employees (29 white-collar workers, 5 blue-collar workers and 9 freelancers) and their working hours fall between: 9 am - 4 pm.

| Your role:

You will be part of a diverse international team (Belgium, Romania, Bangladesh, China). Your focus is on the timely procurement of materials in tender projects under the best conditions, with an eye on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). You are closely involved in the sourcing of new high technology materials worldwide and manage the library of all fabrics and accessories for the customer. In line with the technical requirements of their customers or internal stakeholders, you source trimmings and fabrics, liaise with suppliers, gather proposals and prepare cost calculations. Periodic trips to suppliers and trade shows are also part of your duties. You report to the procurement manager and ensure smooth communication within the team.

| Your profile:

  • First relevant Experience within purchasing in product environment is a must
  • Experience in the textile sector is a must.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, experience in SAP is an asset
  • Excellent command of Dutch, good English and French. (Knowledge of German is a plus)
  • Negotiation skills and Commercial skills
  • Strong analytical and administrative skills
  • You can work both as part of a team and independently
  • You are assertive, stress-resistant and flexible with short deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of import and export
  • Ability to understand and evaluate technical specifications of materials

  • Long-term cooperation of indefinite duration
  • Working at a daily rate of 7 hours/day
  • Afternoon lunch together, free packed lunch is provided by the company
  • Business travel is paid for by the company itself
  • Training is provided, after an induction period, 1 day of remote work can be done
  • 4/5th or full-time is negotiable
