Freelance Food Quality Manager

Our client is a plant-based food company from Limburg that makes manufactured products based on fungi.

15 to 20 employees work there including process operators, production leaders, team leaders, lab technicians, sales, HR and administrator.

An audit was recently conducted and indicated that a QA manager is needed for growth and continued quality production. The company is also ISO certified.

We are looking for a freelance QA manager for 2 days a week for +- 1 year. Afterwards, they hope to have hired a permanent QA manager.

These are your duties as a freelance QA manager:

• You will be responsible for ensuring and improving product quality and safety from raw material to finished product. This includes the development, implementation and maintenance of the plant quality system.
• You are responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the quality policy. You translate strategic objectives into concrete (annual) action plans, in coordination with the plant management team.
• You educate and enthuse relevant stakeholders to promote a culture of food safety. This in all levels of the organization.
• You will evaluate and monitor organizational compliance with quality policies and procedures.
• You will be responsible for identifying and discussing bottlenecks/trends, partly in light of changing requirements and standards.
• You communicate with customers regarding quality issues and improvement plans.
• You plan, supervise and coordinate internal audits as well as supplier audits. After completion, you help ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
• You help ensure the achievement of certifications.
• You will be responsible for conducting and preparing risk analyses and risk management measures.
• You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring food safety within our company.
• You coach the employees of your team to make the best use of their competencies and skills. You are in charge of performance monitoring, evaluations and their support.
• You investigate complaints related to quality and take appropriate action.
• You follow trends in your field and share the knowledge gained with your colleagues.

This is the profile of freelance QA manager we are looking for:

• Bachelor thinking level.
• Equivalent experience in a B2B environment (food).
• Proactive, results-oriented, customer-focused and autonomous.
• You speak fluent Dutch and very good English.
• Good knowledge of current IT packages.
